Tonight, I upset someone while driving. They followed me to a gas station and said some angry words. I wasn’t sure what I had done wrong. I asked if they were okay and if there was anything I could do to help calm them down. They walked away angrily, and I wished them a good day. Normally, I wouldn’t react this way, but as I’ve gotten older, I try to “Seek to Understand.” I realized there was something else going on with them, and my driving wasn’t the real issue.
45 minutes later, when I went back to my truck in the school parking lot, I found a note. It reminded me that you never know what someone is going through. It’s always important to seek to understand.
